Practicing skills that help you support an individual experiencing emotional and/or psychological distress. Learning to de-escalate a situation can help you and your students maintain physical, psychological, and emotional safety.

Presented by: Theresa N. Eaves, MHC-LP (she/they) is a clinical mental health counselor serving at Molloy University's Health & Wellness Department. Theresa holds a dual role as Molloy's Community Wellness Coordinator and the Student Counseling Center's (SCC) Clinical Counselor. Theresa engages in culturally responsive person-centered counseling while following the SCC's solution focused approach. This means, Theresa remains curious, open, and compassionate while collaborating with an individual to learn how to best support them while they are working toward a specific goal. Through the Community Wellness Coordinator role, Theresa works hard to create programs that increase awareness regarding overall wellness with and emphasis on the following two messages: Mental Health is Health and Your Wellness is Your Community's Wellness.
