How to Write Effectively Throughout Your Career in Research In-Person
Do you wish that you could write more? How about writing more clearly, efficiently, and easily? This four-week workshop explores the importance of effective reading, maintaining writing momentum, and responding to peer reviews. In the first week of this workshop, we will learn techniques to improve your writing habits. In the second, we will develop the skills to create an efficient outline for your research articles and/or grant proposals. In the third week, we will use templates and compelling examples to write Abstracts, Methods, and Results sections that are effective and powerful. In our last week, we will learn how to craft revisions and formidable responses to reviewers. With sample articles, templates, and readings, among other things, the practical workshop will encourage writing habits and offer guidance on submission, review, revision, and publication.
Participants of this workshop will receive a copy of the book, “The Scientist’s Guide to Writing,” by Stephen Heard.
